Being Neighborly

link to website

Being Neighborly is an art project comprised of studio events and exhibitions to promote social justice. The subject of art is what works in one’s neighborhood, what doesn’t and advancing change. As artists who confront marginalization and stigmatization in their communities become active contributors, people with diverse backgrounds make connections and learn from each other. Together, these neighbors gain agency, access and influence. The Project Director organizes and facilitates this participatory process. Three Brooklyn based non-for-profit agencies, New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), the Baltic Street Resource& Wellness Center (BSRWC) and the Open Source Gallery (OSG) support the effort.
