artist-in-residency at homeless shelters - Francis Palazzolo

To address the issue of confidentiality and yet the isolation that this homeless population feels I've written a series of ethnographic poems to capture the experience I witness. I've also started to give readings to better inform the public of their struggle and their humanity. To the left is a video of several poems I performed, an excerpt from "Leonia Talks," 2hr 20min, 2016.

As agency, access and equality improve for the people who are homeless that I work with, they're releasing their own artwork to the public to tell their own story. I recently filmed "The Moth" storyslam at the Bronx Museum where I brought "J-Smooth" to perform in 2017. He then posted the video on YouTube, so I can now make it available here. As part of my residency project we also built a website together, so he can blog about his experiences. The link is below.
